It has been an absolute pleasure getting to know Alice and Chris over the past year! They came to us through friends of ours, Rafael and Rachel (who also happen to be our dear friends and AMAZING cinematographers), and we've enjoyed getting to know them while they planned their September wedding. Alice and Chris are exceptional together - they are warm and caring with each other, and exude an authenticity that we love to witness. It was also obvious from the beginning that their wedding planner was a true labour of love! Alice started her day with all of "her girls" at the hair and make-up studio of talented Melanie Tremblay's, Mink Makeup & Hair. It's a cosy space with wonderfully warm light, and we all squeezed in to observe the preparations of the ladies - so fun! Alice's wedding gown was simply beautiful and get this...designed and created by Chris' aunt, Aileen! Alice's jewellery was handmade in Peru to reflect her heritage.
The Groom was meanwhile getting prepped and primped at a local hotel, and we met up with him at the gorgeous CHURCH, overseen by Father Dion. The Catholic ceremony was lovely and meaningful, and was followed by family formals in the garden. We then took the bridal party to Stanley Park and had tons of fun in the children's waterpark near Lumberman's Arch! We loved the antique umbrellas the girls carried, the top hats, and monocles for the guys! It all felt very elegant - we were transported back to Jane Austen's era.
From there, we walked up into Stanley Park and continued our wonderfully fun creative session with Alice and Chris. Then it was time to head back to the reception at the Vancouver Aquarium - what a fabulous display of decor and florals from Evan Orion at Flowerz, and an exceptional set-up by Alicia Keats (wedding planner extraordinaire!). Before dinner, guests were treated to a wonderful dolphin show! The reception was filled with all things fun and tearful - and even had translation in Spanish for some of their family. The end came too quickly as always, but we managed to catch the speeches, cake-cutting (& cake pull!), and dancing before our part of the evening ended...
Here are some of our favourite highlights from their day:
Congratulations Alice and Chris!! We've loved getting to know you both - your sense of adventure and fun together - and your wonderfully romantic way of being with each other.
We have so many wedding partners to thank: Sarah of the Vancouver Aquarium for all of her support, Alicia of Alicia Keats Weddings & Events, for her help in planning Alice and Chris' wedding day, the very creative Evan from Flowerz, Melanie from Mink Makeup and Hair, Peter from Ganache Patissere who is always a favourite of ours, Kristina and Garry from Stanley Park Horse-Drawn Tours, and of course our dear friends Raff & Rachel from Rafael Ziah Franco & Co. What an passionate and dedicated team of people!
