We feel very fortunate to have met Shauna and Matt and were always impressed by their vision of their day from very early on. They're both incredibly creative people themselves since they've both been involved in the film industry in Vancouver (a documentary film that Matt directed was just accepted into the Gold Coast Film Festival!!). They loved planning their day and it showed from the very beginning. You could also see it in the way they had thought out every personal touch from their fun sci-fi inspired vows, to their vibrant wedding colours and the handpainted signature drinks sign that Shauna created herself. Their ceremony was officiated at the Burnaby Art Gallery, a lovely historic old house with a beautiful garden setting. And Marilyn Knipp was in top form as their celebrant. Everything about the wedding ceremony was wonderful from their ring bearer's walk down the aisle, to Shauna and Matt's vows, and the musical trio playing at the top porch of the old house.
We loved the time we had with Shauna and Matt and their wedding party. Most of our creative session was held on the grounds of Simon Fraser University, a location that holds a lot of meaning for us, and one that offers so much as a backdrop for photography. What made their session exceptional was the great energy of the whole wedding party with lots of willingness, smiles and laughs!
Shauna and Matt's wedding dinner reception was held at the Burnaby Rowing Club, a venue that's very new to us. They described why they loved it so much - the view, the location on the lake, and the way they could make it their own for their wedding.
Enjoy a few of our favourite highlights from their entire wedding day:
Congratulations Shauna and Matt on your wedding celebration! What a stunning day!!
A special thanks to Marisa at the Burnaby Art Gallery, Elaine at the Burnaby Rowing Pavilion, Candice of Essential Event Planning for her expert assistance on the day, our dear friend and a simply wonderful celebrant, Marilyn Knipp, for creating the ceremony, Peter at Ganache Patisserie for an incredibly creative cake design (as always!), and Michael from Rolling Chef who Shauna and Matt know well.
