All weddings are amazing. What stood out a little more for us on this one was that we had known the bride for a long time before her big day. Caitie has been our hair stylist for the past few years (it seems to be a trend for us - we photographed Kate and Andre's wedding back in 2009 when SHE was our stylist!), so it was a treat to be a part of Caitie and Jeff's day last Thanksgiving weekend.
The bride and groom got ready together in Vancouver - the girls upstairs, the guys, down. Caitie looked gorgeous in her dress from BCBG, accompanied by a cute lace piece which covered her shoulders (and which looked remarkably like a pair of angel's wings!), and Jeff looked dashing in his navy blue suit. As expected, her hair was wonderfully woven by her own stylist, and her makeup expertly crafted to match.
Following the celebratory "meeting" of bride and groom in the kitchen(!), the bridal party jumped into cars and headed down to Granville Island for the creative session. Unbelievably, the rain (which had been making itself known all morning), lifted for the entire session, leaving open skies and wispy clouds. The bridal party were a ton of fun, and had a blast with each other! The playground proved to be the best fun for them all, shown below by pictures on the spinning swing!
Soon after, the bridal party left on the ferry for the wedding across the water, and Caitie and Jeff had some time to themselves. One of the highlights of the day was when Caitie's Dad brought his Jaguar to pick her up and to take her to the wedding.
And then onto the wedding! The festivities were held at Creekside Community Centre in the Olympic Village, which gave a spectacular view across the water and into the cityscape of Vancouver. As evening drew near, it was lovely to see the sun setting over the water. Since it was Thanksgiving weekend, it was apt to have a full Thanksgiving dinner - catered and decorated by Railtown Cafe. They did an amazing job of presenting the food on raised wooden pedestals, and it tasted delicious! One of the most unusual and delightful parts of the event was Rooker, the owl, who was brought by his handler, and shown to all who were interested. He was such a sweet animal, and it was quite obvious where the name "wise, old owl" comes from!
The evening's entertainment was brought by DJ Kee Wakita, who had the guests up dancing til all hours - a grand success of any event! We wish you the very best, Caitie and Jeff - it was a privilege and a pleasure to photograph your day :)
