What do you get when you combine the gorgeous Hart House with an original carousel, a vintage Mercedes Benz and an old street car, and some incredible costumes and dresses? Ron and Donovan's wedding of course - a beautiful recreation of a time gone by.
We started our day with Ron and Donovan with a first look at the Burnaby Village Museum carousel. Carousels are so magical and fit the era that they recreated around their wedding day. We were also so impressed with the wonderful carousel operator, who supported us so kindly while we captured them at the Village!
What impressed us most was the love and support from their family. We were touched as Ron's mom and Donovan's mom reach over to hold hands towards the end of their ceremony. It said far more than any words could have. We were also thrilled when we'd learned that they had brought Marilyn Knipp in as their celebrant. They loved her from the first time they met her and there was never any doubt that she was a great fit for their day. And of course it was great for us to see her as well, since she married us close to 13 years ago.
We discovered after first meeting them, that Donovan was super creative himself - from the 1920s mood board he'd created to a handmade carousel at their wedding reception. Everything was just lovely and mattered so much to him and to Ron.
Ron and Donovan's wedding was a perfect reflection of what wedding celebrations are about - love, meaning, reflection and support from friends and family. It was just beautiful!
