We have so much to say about Axelle and Dave's wedding! Not only was it beautiful, meaningful and thoughtfully planned, but we were also thrilled to have been invited to photograph it. We've gotten to know Axelle and Dave as close friends over the last few years, starting from when we were first introduced to her at a local caterer. They're both wonderful people, and their wedding reflected their character and their caring personalities.
Axelle was very involved in planning all of the details of their day, along with Dave and their families. There were many custom and meaningful touches - Axelle's dad, for example, designed their wedding invitations for them. Their florist, Sacha at FlowerBox, traveled from Vancouver to create their floral arrangements - Axelle has known her for a number of years and wanted to make sure she was part of the wedding!
An RCMP ceremonial guard welcomed guests into the church and as per French tradition, there was no bridal party, but five small children (nieces and a nephew) accompanied Axelle into church, with two of Axelle's nieces holding her veil behind her. And then following their ceremony, the ceremonial guard created an arch of crossed lances as Axelle and Dave exited the church. It was wonderful to see Dave and a number of their friends who are Mounties, all dressed in their full red serge!
Following the ceremony, we had an opportunity to capture Axelle and Dave in a beautiful, and candid way as we toured the property of a lovely local winery, St. Hurbutus, and ended up at the El Dorado for their cocktail reception on the dock.
As the evening approached, their reception began in the ballroom at the Hotel. It was lively and fun with some great speeches, great food and lots of laughter. As per traditions, Axelle and Dave didn't have a white wedding cake, but opted for the traditional French Croquembouche and a tower of colourful macarons.
Enjoy these glimpses of Axelle and Dave's beautiful wedding day!
Congratulations Axelle and Dave!! - R&M xo
