It is a special privilege to photograph weddings - and even more of a privilege when asked to do it twice in one family. Our first encounter with the On Family was back in 2010 when we photographed Melody and Fred's wedding in Mexico. Then last year, we were asked by Mel's sister, Mary, to photograph her union to Tony. Of course, we said a resounding "hallelujah, yes!"
September 9th found us atop Burnaby Mountain at Horizons Restaurant for both ceremony and reception for the lovely occasion. It was unseasonably chilly that day, and a wee bit drizzly, and despite having to move the ceremony inside, everything sailed along without a bump. The upside to the weather that day was the dense fog that gathered on the mountain, which created some of the most gorgeous light. The portraits of Mary, in particular, were beautiful and soft.
When it came to the planning of the event, Mary was happy to hand over the reins to Tony. "In a way it was hard because I like to take control but at the same time I don't like to let it go. Every time I decided to have input it stressed me out. So I just decided to let Tony make the decisions, and just show up on time".
And how did that turn out?
"I loved it! I think he did an amazing job. I would reccommend him to any couple planning their big day!"
We think you both did a great job :) Thank you so much for inviting us to be a part of your lovely day!
