A blistering hot day in June greeted Janet and Vanson as they prepared to say their I Dos. The Four Seasons Hotel was the setting for their celebration, and it started with Janet and her female entourage getting ready in one of the classic-looking rooms. Cousins, aunts, and Mom helped Janet get into her beautiful dress (sewed painstakingly by her Mom over a period of 3 months!). She looked gorgeous, and was completely calm as she was fussed over by everyone else. Such a lovely feeling to be pampered by other people on your special day!
At St Augustine's Parish in Kitsilano, Vanson waited not-so-calmly for his bride (it's ever so cute to see a groom in a state of slight disarray!). His nerves were calmed as soon as he saw Janet, of course, and the atmosphere in the church matched her serenity as she walked down the aisle with her Mom. The mass was followed by family pictures, and we tried to complete them as quickly as possible as everyone was melting in the heat! The afternoon was filled with a lovely tea ceremony at Vanson's Mom's home in Kerrisdale, then it was back to the Four Seasons for the party and great food. Serenading the crowd was the amazing Amanda Wood, jazz singer, who had the crowd tapping their feet under the tables. The highlight of the evening was a speech given by Vanson's elderly mother, which was heartfelt and sweet!
Congrats to you, Janet and Vanson - and an early welcome for the little one joining us early next year :)
