A Whistler Wedding on the Lake | Pam & Adam

The dress clings to the hanger ready for Pam to slip in to, neatly-typed vows to each other lie on the bed, fresh petals make up her bouquet...and so the details of the wedding day are created. This "getting ready" part of the day is always filled with an excited kind of energy - an anticipation of things to come... Pam and Adam wanted to see each other for the first time before the ceremony - we love this intimate time with a couple.  It's romantic, and quiet, and funny, and there are often tears. Outside their hotel was the perfect spot - gorgeous surroundings and a secluded area to meet and adore each other.

We love opportunities to photograph weddings in Whistler - it's a fabulous location for weddings because of the built-in beauty and majesty of the mountains and lakes. It was our first opportunity to photograph at Niklaus North - its location and view of Green Lake was just beautiful. Pam and Adam's wedding had a similar feel to that of another couple's wedding that happened in Mexico in early 2012 (Britta and Chris) - this was where we first met them!  Of course, Mexico was missing the "mountain and lake" scenery, but as far as weather and water, it felt very much the same. Must be something special between these friends :)

We also loved the first dance on the terrace - so much emotion stored up from the day - this is when fathers and daughters, and sons and mothers have time to unite and really acknowledge each other.  We love the looks that were given across the dance floor - it shows wonderful family connection.

Of course, there is so much more to the wedding than what we've written here - but we hope it has brought back lovely memories for those who attended - and for those who were not able to.  Please enjoy some highlights from their day...

A "Dreams" Wedding | Carmen & Livio

We first met Carmen and Livio back in February 2011.  We could tell they were going to be so much fun right from the start - and they more than delivered!  We loved their sense of play - from their awesome couple session at the PNE last year (Livio, you are a STAR for braving that Ferris Wheel despite your fear of heights!) to their wonderful wedding last month at Dreams, Mayan Riviera (think warm breezes and margaritas). We have to say something about Carmen's unbelievable organizational skills.  She really was wonderful to work with, even sending us pictures of everyone in the wedding group beforehand so that we'd recognize people - so thoughtful. It was a great step in getting to know their wonderful families and friends who we happily expect to see more of in the days ahead.

Alas, all the planning in the world could not prevent some challenging moments - like Livio getting locked into a washroom at the Cancún airport, and then throwing away his wedding ring into a garbage can (we're happy to report that both situations ended well though!), and our flight's navigational system malfunction (which afforded us all 5 hours in the air only to end up in CALGARY, not Cancún)! Still, like destination weddings we've covered before, it was all an experience to talk about and in the end, all was well, and we landed in Mexico ready for a treat at the Dreams Riviera Cancún!

And a treat it was...

Congratulations Carmen and Livio! We're looking forward to your Vancouver reception coming up this weekend! We've loved the opportunity to get to know you both so well.

It was also a thrill to work with Raff and Rach again, such a talented and inspiring cinematic duo - the timing couldn't have been better!! Also, a special thank you to Danielle at Blue Petal Destination Weddings who was instrumental in making the wedding such a success.

Married at the Dreams Riviera | Sneak Preview

We were so privileged to have another wedding to capture in Mexico at the end of last week! Carmen and Livio held their ceremony and reception in a very intimate setting at the Dreams Riviera Cancún. They were wonderful to be with and it was such a treat to get to know their family and friends so well. These are just a few highlights from their wedding ceremony on the beach followed by their evening reception. Stay tuned for much more! Married at Sparkling Hill Resort | Trisha & Bret

We're thrilled to present highlights from Trisha and Bret's full wedding day which took place just under 3 weeks ago at the Sparkling Hill Resort in Vernon. Sparkling Hill takes your breath away as you approach it and the interior is mesmerizing with many of its European architectural elements inspired by Swarovski crystals. Add to that an extensive spa and an unparalleled view, and it's hard to match. And with beautiful weather on their day, it was a simply amazing location for Trisha and Bret to celebrate their wedding! Some memorable highlights from their day:

- The emotion of the day was so moving, from the process of Trisha and Bret getting ready, to their wedding ceremony and the speeches. There was a balance of tears and laughter which will keep Trisha and Bret's wedding in people's memories for many years to come. - Sparkling Hill Resort and  Predator Ridge provided a stunning backdrop for our creative session with Trisha and Bret in the open landscape - the sweeping views are simply gorgeous and a perfect match for Trisha and Bret's love of nature. - We loved the serenity of the Resort as a location for part of Trisha and Bret's creative session - everyone was relaxed and carefree, two wonderful qualities we love to see in all of our couples and their guests. - In the very short period of time that we've gotten to know Trisha and Bret, we've been so impressed by their spirit and warmth - and that meant a wonderful wedding to capture with so much feeling.

Married on the Beach | Britta & Chris

There were many special things about Britta and Chris' wedding, not the least of which was the beautiful location on the Mayan Riviera in Mexico. It was perfect in so many ways for them. Their wedding was also special because part of our very own team, Aimée Makris, focused on being in front of the camera for this wedding with her special role as one of Britta's bridesmaids. There were many memorable highlights from the wedding day, but here are just a few:

- The weather was spectacular - although it seemed as though their day might be changed by rain, the skies cleared just in time for their ceremony to start, but not before we witnessed some beautiful stormy skies! - The ceremony was moving, simple and most of all loving - we love the tears and the joy all in a short 20 minute ceremony. - The Ocean Tourquesa was a stunning backdrop to the entire wedding day and a wonderful location to photograph the creative session - the entire wedding party was relaxed, fun and so very committed to being there. -  We loved the post-wedding session we had with Britta and Chris in the small and authentic town of Puerto Morelos - it had so much character and the water and views were spectacular! And thanks to Aimée for capturing the session with Randal, this time behind the camera.

We love how well Britta and Chris fit together - their sense of fun and play, and "come what may" attitude. It was a wonderful wedding to capture!

Please click on the first image to see highlights from their day.

Congratulations Britta and Chris! We wish you a life full of love and happiness together.

Aimée deserves a special mention as well for the beautiful work she did with Britta's makeup on her wedding day.
