A Mayfair Lakes Wedding | Vania & Karl

We first met Vania and Karl in November of last year when Karl came out from Moncton, NB, for a visit. Vania was already here in Vancouver - and so the planning began! The couple had decided on a Mayfair Lakes wedding - and we were really happy to be back there again after a wedding earlier in the year.  We knew right away that Vania and Karl would be wonderful to work with, as they were such a confident and loving couple - you can often tell the way a couple looks at each other how much respect they have. Fast forward to THE BIG DAY - it dawned bright and beautiful - a perfect beginning to a day that was filled with love and laughter - and cool door games! We loved the fun and tests that Karl and his guys were put through by the gals - and we especially loved the fact that Vania could watch the shenanigans on her iPad whilst getting ready! What a great idea - too funny to be missed.

The day flowed beautifully - from the "entrance" of the bride (what a great look on Karl's face when he saw her!), to the ceremony in the gorgeous Lutheran church (loved their cute ring bearer too!), to the Brittania Shipyards with the wedding party (we're sure that boat was about to topple!), and back again to Mayfair for the reception. The day flowed so well from start to finish, and as all weddings do, culminated with a lovely first dance.

Vania  and Karl - we wish you well for your new lives together in TO!

Married at Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden | Monica & Brandon

We first met Monica and Brandon back at the end of 2010 when we captured Mel and Fred's wedding in Mexico. We feel very fortunate to have met them them under such wonderful circumstances, and to now have captured their very own wedding here in Vancouver! This summer we also had a lot of fun getting to know them when we captured their couple session at Furry Creek (you can see all of the highlights here). Their wedding day started with each of them getting ready in Vancouver just before their ceremony. Monica's dress and shoes were simply stunning!

Their ceremony took place at Dr. Sun Yat Sen Classical Chinese Garden, a lovely garden oasis in the heart of Vancouver. It's a great setting with an intimate feeling, and a wonderful location for photographs no matter what time of year.

Following their ceremony, we were again fortunate to have so much time with them and their wedding party. And huge credit goes out to their bridesmaids and groomsmen for braving a beautiful but CRISP Fall day!!

There were many fun parts to Monica and Brandon's wedding, from their lively ceremony in the Garden given by the ever-charismatic Marilyn Knipp, to the creative session, which included city, water and indoor backdrops, to the lion dance and casino entertainment at their wedding reception!

Please enjoy a few highlights from their lovely day:

A Heritage Farm Wedding | Liz and Kien

Liz and Kien's wedding was a wonderful combination of traditional touches with a more contemporary feeling. From Liz's traditional Vietnamese dress and their ceremony at home, to their lovely wedding ceremony at the historic London Heritage Farm, and the banquet dinner at the Kirin Restaurant in the Starlight Casino, their day was a stunning emotional and visual event! As we arrived at Liz and Kien's new home, family was everywhere, getting dressed and helping Liz with the finishing touches of her makeup. And then Kien, his groomsmen and his family arrived for the ceremonial meeting of the families - along with a traditional roast pig! The ceremonial part of the wedding continued at Kien's parents' home with a tea ceremony and some great images of the families together again.

Their wedding ceremony was held at the beautiful London Heritage Farm in Richmond. And Liz looked amazing as she came down the aisle with her parents on either side. One of our favourite marriage celebrants, Marilyn Knipp, was outstanding as she always is, involving the audience in a ceremony that they'll be sure to remember for many years. (Seeing her doing her life's work always brings us back to our own wedding day when Marilyn married us). Liz was determined to have the ceremony outdoors and everything worked out wonderfully while the rain held off.

The areas near the Heritage Farm and Steveston Village provided a scenic backdrop for the time we spent with Liz and Kien after they had said their "I Do's". It allowed us to capture many fun moments with them and their wedding party, and then on their own. From there, their reception started at the more modern Kirin Restaurant. We loved the intimate feeling of their reception and it was a wonderful way to end their day.

Liz and Kien were natural and fun during their entire day - it was clear from the beginning that they were going to enjoy it from start to finish, and so they did!

Here's a short story of Liz and Kien's day. Please click on the first image to see a gallery.

Congratulations Liz and Kien on your beautiful day and your new life together!! We so enjoyed working together with you leading up to your wedding, and on your big day! And we owe a special thank you to Dina Ferreira-Stoddard for assisting us here.

Wedding Fun in Steveston Village with Joyce and Oliver!

We feel as though we've know Joyce and Oliver for a very long time! We first met them at the Wedding Fair show back at the beginning of 2009. Since then we've had a great time capturing them through their couple session and now their big wedding day which finally arrived at the end of June. Finally, we've had an opportunity after they saw all of their images, to create a blog post for their day! Joyce and Oliver infused lots of their personality into their wedding day and it really showed. Everything from the dancing entrance with Oliver and his groomsmen, to Oliver serenading Joyce at their banquet reception was incredibly special and at times, beautifully emotional.

We started our day with them at Oliver's parents' home for a very lively tea ceremony! Joyce and Oliver looked relaxed from the moment they arrived until the end of the evening. From there, they held their ceremony at the Vancouver Chinese Alliance Church at Fraser Lands. Their ceremony fit the day - it was fun as the guys made their way dancing to the stage and then as Joyce and Oliver danced off after the ceremony. It was a great celebration of their marriage!

After the ceremony we had lots of time with Joyce and Oliver and their wedding party. Our stops including the very lovely Britannia Shipyards near Steveston Village and then the Village itself. The evening ended with their reception at the Jade Restaurant in Richmond with a very traditional banquet dinner. And again, in keeping with the spirit of their day they made sure their guests had fun throughout the evening with lots of games and some very sweet moments between them.

Here are just a few images from their wedding. Please click on the first image to see the story of their day.

Congratulations you guys! We loved having a part in your day and look forward to many more opportunities to work together with you in the future. We also owe a special thank you to Aimee Makris who assisted on this day with all of her creative talents!

Maria and Marc are married at the Hilton in Richmond!

We met Maria at the beginning of 2009 at the Wedding Fair in Vancouver. Since then we've been fortunate to work with Maria and Marc through their engagement session and now their wedding in October. They were married at the very unique Trinity Lutheran Church and had their reception at the Hilton Hotel in Richmond. Despite a day full of changing weather, we had an opportunity to capture some great moments at the Britannia Shipyards in Steveston.

Maria and Marc's family and guests were very engaged on their wedding day and were a big part of what made their ceremony beautiful. This was a fun moment with the ring bearer coming down the aisle.

Maria and Marc greeted their flower girl and ring bearer as the ceremony ended.

After the ceremony we had an opportunity to capture a few very special family images. Then we left to Steveston for some time with Maria and Marc and their wedding party.

The Britannia Shipyards provided a completely dramatic backdrop to a series of images we captured with Maria and Marc.

In spite of the weather, Maria and Marc's wedding part kept laughing through the day.

After arriving back at the Hilton Hotel for their reception, Maria and Marc had a few minutes to relax. Time for us to capture images of the details...

The reception was very unique - from some touching toasts to a great end to the formal part of the evening.

A special guest from Marc made a grand entrance - a new car for Maria and a surprise to everyone. What a gift!

Congratulations Maria and Marc! We owe you thanks for the opportunity to be part of your day.

We'd finally like to thank Dina so much for all of her hard work in assisting on this day.
